Jersey retain Inter Insular Trophy with five-wicket win at KGV

Corey Bisson led the way as Jersey chased down a rain-reduced target of 177 to beat Guernsey by five wickets at the KGV.

His 57, alongside another fifty from debutant Nick Greenwood, saw Jersey home in relatively comfortable fashion as they won with seven overs of their forty to spare.

Opener Matt Stokes anchored Guernsey's innings with 74, his third half-century in inter-insulars, but spinners Rhys Palmer (4-32) and Dom Blampied (3-39) turned the screw as the Sarnians finished 194 all out.

Guernsey's backs were up when Will Peatfield bowled Jonty Jenner for a duck, but the target always looked within Jersey's reach and it was Blampied and Anthony Hawkins-Kay at the crease as they inflicted another defeat on their rivals.

Jersey have now won their last 10 games against Guernsey in all formats, including four T20Is earlier this summer.

The match was Ash Wright's last as Guernsey coach as he prepares to take up a role with Sussex after four years on island.

Jersey now turn their attention to the T20 World Cup Qualifier, which begins in Dubai in October.
