Gas prices are set to rise across the Channel Islands, due to changes in exchange rates and rising costs.

The average gas bill will increase by around around 3.8% per year, meaning households will face an increase of £35.

Suppliers are removing the banded standing charge from January 2020, but charges are set to increase from September.

Suppliers say that despite the increase, charges will still be £12 per year cheaper than they were in September 2014.

Guernsey Gas and Jersey Gas are both owned by the Islands Energy Group (IEG) and are the sole providers of gas to the residents in the Channel Islands.
