Liberation 75 & VE celebrations could come with additional £100k bill
Celebrations and commemorations marking the 75th Liberation Day and Victory in Europe Day could cost £100,000 more in Jersey.
The Chief Minister is warning of the rise in costs as part of plans to mark the big anniversaries.
Senator John Le Fondré wants to give islanders Friday 8 May off to celebrate, as Liberation Day falls on a Saturday.
This decision is due to be debated in the States on 24 September.
In his proposition, Senator Le Fondré says allowing islanders to mark the Island’s liberation on Saturday 9 May, as well as Victory in Europe Day the day before, would 'reflect the significance' of the 75th anniversaries.
