New smaller vehicle for Guernsey Fire Service
New smaller vehicles have arrived at Guernsey Fire and Rescue to help fire fighters get to locations they could not in the past.
The new Rapid Intervention Vehicle has been especially adapted for Guernsey roads.
Some of the roads in Guernsey are too narrow for traditional fire engines but this vehicle will allow fire fighters to get right outside. Where as before fire trucks would park down the street and run the hose down towards to the house.
The vehicle holds 500 litres of water, giving it just under a 10-minute supply to tackle a fire while back-up is on the way.
