A film has been produced explaining where the ash that is left over from Jersey's waste incinerator goes.

The waste that cannot be recycled is taken to the energy recycling plant at La Collette where the majority of it is burnt, generating enough electricity for up to 10,000 homes.

Deputy Kevin Lewis, Minister for Infrastructure says "nothing is buried now", waste is processed in Jersey and then sent to the UK.

12,000 tonnes of ash is taken by boat every year to the UK where it is made into building material for new construction projects.
