Two Guernsey athletes were so desperate to go to this year's NatWest International Island Games they learnt a new sport.

Jen Lindfield and Gemma Nicolle from Guernsey have been competing in volleyball for almost 20 years - but sand is not their normal stomping ground.

They are both used to playing indoor volleyball, so have been training hard in different locations to prepare themselves for the beach volleyball event in Gibraltar.

Tonight was their shining moment, and they managed to beat the hosts in straight sets.

The game also marked the first time Guernsey has sent a team to the Games for this event.
