Jersey's opt-out organ donation law comes into effect today
Jersey's new opt-out organ donation law comes into effect today.
From now on, it will be assumed that adults give permission for their organs to be used after they die, unless they say otherwise.
The system was adopted in April 2018, after States members voted 44-1 in favour of the proposal, lodged by former Health Minister Senator Andrew Green.
Islanders are now being encouraged to speak to their loved ones about their wishes.
If you do not want to donate your organs when you die, you need to contact the National Organ Donation Register on 0300 123 2323.
