When Emma Critchley from Jersey first visited her GP with bowel complaints, she was told she most likely had irritable bowel syndrome.

But after having a blood test and a colonoscopy, the doctors told Emma she had bowel cancer.

The average age for someone to get bowel cancer is 72. Emma is only 40.

As a comfort in dealing with her diagnosis and treatment, Emma has been writing a blog.

She talked about what it was like telling her family and friends that she has the disease.

In our latest Point of View video, Emma tells us what people should do if they suspect they have the condition and what signs they should look out for.
