Campaigners concerned about pollution on Jersey's Waterfront claim authorities are dragging their feet over the issue.

It follows a number of reports of alleged pollution incidents at the Horizon luxury apartment development next to the Elizabeth Marina.

Environmentalists reported their concerns back in February. The government has confirmed a file of evidence is being prepared and will be passed to the Attorney General for consideration.

Both the site owner, the States of Jersey Development Company, and the contractor who currently has control of the site, Legendre Group, say they won't be commenting publicly while the case is being looked into by the government - though they add they are abiding by all their obligations.

Campaigners have previously released video and photographic evidence of what they claim is polluted water draining from the construction site into the neighbouring marina.

They've also commissioned independent testing of the outflow which has shown raised levels of a number of potentially toxic metals and other contaminants.

The government's communications team, speaking on behalf of the Environment Minister, say work is progressing behind the scenes.

In response to concerns, they put the delay down to the time it takes to conduct research, collect evidence and prepare their case file.
