Victoria, who is Britain's second longest serving monarch, reigned from 1837 until 1901.

The only daughter of Edward, Duke of Kent and Victoria of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld, was born at Kensington Palace on 24 May 1819.

She became Queen of England at the age of 18, succeeding her uncle, King William IV.

Visiting Jersey in 1846 and 1859, Victoria is known to have been fond of the island.
