The number of holidaymakers coming to Guernsey has gone up by 22% in the first quarter of this year, compared with the same period in 2018.

Visit Guernsey has released its visitor figures for the first quarter of 2019.

There has been a 7% increase in people travelling by air. A 20% increase in people travelling by sea and an 18% rise in people visiting in yachts.

There has been a 13% rise in total day visitors.

While the number of visitors from the UK rose by 25%, the number of visitors from France dropped by 24% and from other countries by 11%.

Visit Guernsey says this is likely to be linked to the uncertainty surrounding Brexit and the closure of Hauteville House.
