Jersey host Solomon Islands in first fixture arranged by Uefa

The Jersey FA hosted Solomon Islands U17s at Springfield in the first fixture of its kind arranged by Uefa.

A local mixed age-group representative side lost 3-2 on the night, with St Peter striker Sol Solomon scoring both their goals.

Solomon Islands U17s now head to a Uefa development tournament in Belarus having spent the week preparing in Jersey.

The visit came about as a result of the Jersey Football Association's attempts to join European football's governing body last year.

Uefa's members rejected the move but the JFA asked the organisation for help in developing and strengthening their games programme.
