Alderney Airport will have reduced opening hours today, the third time it has happened this month.

It is because of a shortage of Air Traffic Controller cover on the island. The airport says the reduced hours are to make sure the available staff can work the legal amount of time.

Operating hours will be from 8am-1pm and 2.30pm until 6pm. That's compared to normal opening hours of 7:40am until 6.30pm Monday to Thursday.

Alderney airport has apologised for any inconvenience caused to passengers' travel plans.

Over the month, Aurigny has spent time contacting affected passengers.

The Head of Aviation Services has said he understands the frustration of passengers but says safety is of utmost importance.

Leah Jefferey, the manager of Air Traffic Control, has said "this decision has not been taken lightly and all other options have been explored."
