Calls for plastic bags to be banned in Guernsey
There are calls for plastic bags to be banned in Guernsey.
A petition set up by Plastic Free Guernsey, is calling on retailers to stop providing bags to customers to combat plastic consumption.
In just two days it has received more than 800 signatures.
The organisation has said the island needs to make a change to tackle plastic usage, especially with the effects of it being washed up on the shoreline.
They are reminding people to carry a reusable bag with them as it can make a huge difference to the environment.
Plastic Free Guernsey hopes the States will get on board with the petition and legislate against plastic bags being distributed.
