A decision on whether a second nursing union in Jersey will accept a new pay deal from the States is expected to be announced today.

The Royal College of Nurses accepted the latest improved pay offer on Friday, but the Jersey Nursing Association is yet to confirm its results.

The JNA has apologised for the delay, which it says is due to concerns over the validity of its ballot. This is being investigated.

Nurses had voted in favour of strike action earlier this year, after previous pay offers were rejected.

The new deal is September 2019 RPI plus 1.3%, with rises of 3.1% for 2018 and 3% for 2019.

The States Employment Board says this will protect standards of living by matching inflation over three years.
