Growers in Guernsey think cannabis could revitalise the agriculture industry.

It follows announcements that a company wants to set up a cooperative to cultivate the plants in the now derelict glasshouses.

Permission was given to cultivate cannabis with low levels of the chemical that causes psychological effects at Le Douit Vinery, Vale.

A second licence application, again to grow this type of cannabis plant has been approved subject to completion of outstanding documentation.

The crops will be used for medical research and cannabis based products.
