Channel Islander's enjoy Polish tradition of 'Fat Thursday'
People from across the Channel Islands have been tucking into doughnuts today to celebrate 'Fat Thursday'.
The Polish tradition begins just before Lent which starts next Wednesday.
It is similar to pancake day where fatty foods are eaten before people then give something up until Easter Sunday.
Donovan Herve, the owner of Yogolicious, the yogurt shop in St Helier, has been making the doughnuts since 2am this morning.
He says that the traditional filling in the doughnuts is rose marmalade but there are plenty of others people can try.
Mr Herve said the recipe he uses is one that has been passed down several generations to his wife and it has taken a while to perfect.
