Guernésiais art project aims to recruit more islanders
A project to promote and protect Guernésiais is asking for islanders who grew up speaking Guernsey's ancient language to get involved.
The collaboration between local photographer Aaron Yeandle and the Guernsey Language Commission was launched at the end of November, with more than a dozen islanders taking part so far.
The project includes photographing and recording islanders who speak the language to create a social history record of Guernésiais. The aim is to speak to as many people who grew up speaking the language as possible. An exhibition will then be made once this stage is completed.
