Jersey Swimarathon will still go ahead despite losing main sponsor.

It's because organisers have been able to 'retain sufficient funding' from previous events.

They hope to secure another long term sponsor and already have interest for the 2020 event.

They are asking local businesses and organisations for sponsorship of the laps swum on each of the days of the fundraising event.

It's after the exclusive sponsorship deal with RBC Wealth Management ended after 12 years.

Sponsorship of each day’s swimming starts at 50 pence per lap and is capped at £2,500.

457 teams have already registered for next month's challenge which is a record number ahead of the Swimarathon.

Since the first Swimarathon in 1972, the event has raised more than £3.5million, the majority of which is spent on good causes in the island.

The 2019 Swimarathon takes place at Les Quennevais Pool onWednesday 6th to Sunday 10th March.
