Jersey Airport development faces building delays

Plans to build a new multi-million pound airport for Jersey have been delayed.

The Ports of Jersey are holding back from committing to the £42 million needed for the project as they are working with CICRA to agree to a long term pricing framework. A decision for this is expected in June 2019.

The second phase of the project, to create an upper floor with access to departure gates, is being brought forward. This will delay the start of phase one, to create a first-floor departure lounge and new security area, while developers wait for planning approval.

Another phase of work, to implement a 30m "no traffic" exclusion zone outside the terminal buildings, is also being brought forward.

Once these changes are in place only authorised vehicles such as buses, coaches and taxis will be allowed outside the main entrance doors. The existing roads will be realigned to include pick up and drop off zones. These plans will be published within the next three months to allow feedback from islanders.
