Electricity to stay on in Sark, Chief Pleas claim

The electricity will be staying on in Sark according to a spokesman for the island's government.

The spokesman claims Chief Pleas and Sark Electricity made a deal in the early hours this morning following weeks of threats by the managing director of the only electricity company to to turn the power off at midnight tonight.

Sark Electricity say they can't comment at this stage.

David Gordon Brown, the managing director of the company was calling for financial assistance to help him mount a legal case against an independent regulator, which had forced him to lower electricity prices, saying he can't afford to continue to run the company
