Hundreds of nominations made for Channel Islands Sports Awards

Hundreds of nominations have been made for the Betway Channel Islands Sports Awards 2018.

The biggest occasion in the local sporting calendar, now in its 17th year, celebrates the best of Channel Islands sport across five categories.

But time is running out for people to have their say with nominations set to close at midnight on Sunday 25 November.

A panel of judges will decide the final shortlists, but the public can put forward the sportspeople, teams, and coaches they think should be considered here.

  • Betway Channel Islands Sports Personality of the Year - The main award which recognises the outstanding performers over the last 12 months.

  • PraxisIFM Rising Star - For young sportspeople, under the age of 20 on 31 December, with the potential to make it to the top of their sport.

  • Blue Islands Team of the Year - This can be any team of two or more people competing together in a local, national, or international arena.

  • Source Recruitment Coach of the Year - For coaches based in the islands who make an impact with the resources available to them.

  • Michael Lucas Sporting Hero - This special award recognises the unsung heroes who make local sport happen.

Shortlists will be announced early in 2019 with the main award decided by a public vote and the others winners chosen by the panel of judges.

The awards night itself takes place on Thursday 31 January and will be broadcast live on ITV Channel TV.
