Former Guernsey coach takes interim charge of West Indies

Guernsey's former director of cricket, Nic Pothas, has taken interim charge of the West Indies men's side ahead of their tour to Bangladesh.

He became their fielding coach earlier this year, but will now step up to lead the team following the departure of head coach Stuart Law to Middlesex.

The former Hampshire wicketkeeper, who spent three years in Guernsey, was named Coach of the Year at the Channel Islands Sports Award in 2015.

It came after Guernsey won promotion back to World Cricket League Division Five and regained the Inter-Insular from Jersey with victory at Port Soif.

Since leaving the island, Pothas has also coached in Sri Lanka, leading the national side on an interim basis last year.

West Indies play two Tests, three ODIs, and three T20Is in Bangladesh with the first Test starting on Thursday 22 November.
