Unbeaten Alderney 'quietly confident' of keeping pace with Priaulx leaders

Alderney FC coach Josh Concanen says he is "quietly confident" his side can keep pace at the top of the Priaulx League this season.

The Nomads are the only side in Guernsey's top flight who are yet to lose, having won six games and drawn one so far.

They sit third out of nine teams, two points behind joint-leaders Rovers and St Martins, who they face on Saturday, with a game in hand on both.

Concanen's side will only play eight of their matches this season at home, travelling away to face the Guernsey sides in the other 16 - some played as double headers on a single weekend.

Alderney previously won the reserve team Jackson League, but have only been members of the Priaulx for two full seasons, finishing fifth and then seventh last year.

They also face Guernsey and Jersey in alternate years in the Muratti Vase semi-final, but have only won one match in the competition since 1905.
