Are new fathers making the most of new paternity legislation in Jersey?
Extended maternity and paternity provision was introduced in Jersey in September but how effective has it been, particularly in helping new fathers?
The new rights offer 26 weeks of leave to parents with no qualifying period, with employers paying the employee six weeks paid at their usual full rate. Fathers are able to take two weeks of paid leave.
Partners now also have the right to attend an unlimited number of antenatal appointments.
Our reporter Sophie Dulson has been to the NSPCC Baby Steps service in the island, which helps new mums-to-be and dads-to-be prepare for parenthood, and has been hearing from families about what impact the changes have had on them.
