Free cervical screening to come to Guernsey and Alderney
Free cervical screening will be introduced in Guernsey and Alderney for women aged between 25 and 65.
Women on the islands currently have to pay for screening which takes place at their GP surgery and can cost up to £85.
Guernsey's Health and Social Care Committee says it has made the "in-principle" decision to introduce the free service but have not yet announced when it will become available.
It says funding for the scheme has been included in Health and Social Care's budget for 2019, which is subject to approval by the States next week.
In the meantime, women who are due to have a cervical screening test are advised go ahead with it as normal.
