Stanton saves two pens as Guernsey FC end six-game losing run

Goalkeeper Callum Stanton saved a penalty in each half as Guernsey FC beat Haywards Heath 3-1 at Footes Lane to end their six-game losing streak in the Bostik South East.

The Green Lions had Kieran Mahon sent-off early on, but goals from Carlos Canha, Matt Loaring, and Charlton Gauvain saw them pick up their first points since the beginning of September.

Gauvain - who recently spent a week training with Bristol City - scored the pick of the goals, cutting in from the right before rifling into the top corner.

Haywards Heath pulled one back just after the break, but Stanton's second penalty save of the afternoon soon after quashed any fightback.

The win sees Guernsey climb to 16th in the table ahead of their trip to Faversham Town next weekend.
