Water births at Jersey General Hospital's maternity unit have now been reinstated. They were temporarily suspended in July because of safety concerns, with a small number of babies needing extra post-natal care.

Guidelines around water births have been refreshed and midwives working with new mothers who use the birthing pools have also received refresher training.

Women who wish to use the pool for labour or delivery will be individually assessed as to whether it is a suitable option for them.
