'Relaxed' Fossey ready for Jersey Rally return

Local driver Ed Fossey is targeting a strong performance at the Jersey Rally this weekend after clinching his second title in two years.

The 20-year-old won his class in the MSA Asphalt Championship with a round to spare after stepping up following his maiden title victory in 2017.

Fossey, who will be partnered by Guernsey co-driver Will Rutherford, is seeded 18th in his Peugeot 208 R2.

This year's rally has attracted more than 80 entries, including 28 drivers from the UK and 11 all-Guernsey teams.

In the absence of 2017 champions Stevie Leonard and Sion Humphreys, Jersey's Darryl Morris and Steve Gully - runners-up last year - are ranked first.

The cars will tackle 26 stages across Friday and Saturday, including some of the longest ever run on the island according to organisers.
