Three Guernsey further education centres could be housed in one, purpose-built facility.

Proposals have been put forward by the Education Committee to build a new home for the College of Further Education, the Institute of Health & Social Care Studies and the GTA University Centre under one roof.

The proposal would need to be approved by the States before any work begins.

A working group has been appointed to discuss the practicalities of post-16 integration.

They have given the following recommendations to the Education Committee:

  • Governance: Each further education institution should have their own form of governance and operate independently.

  • Facilities: Each institution should have facilities which fit their needs.

  • Integration: The institutions should be integrated no later than December 2019.

The heads of all three institution say they welcome the opportunity to work together.
