Guernsey 'wonder drug' boss faces jail after guilty pleas
The creator of a controversial 'wonder drug' sold under claims it was a cure for cancer, now faces jail after pleading guilty to a number of charges in Southwark Crown Court.
65-year-old David Noakes is the CEO and owner of Immuno Biotech Ltd, which had offices in Guernsey.
Noakes, a former Guernsey resident who is originally from Waldershare, Dover, admitted two counts of manufacturing a medicinal product without a licence, two of selling or supplying medicinal products without market authorisation and one count of money laundering.
His ex-wife Loraine Noakes also admitted two counts of selling or supplying medicinal products without market authorisation.
In 2015, the product Noakes had been promoting, which contained GcMAF, was described as a 'significant health risk' by the UK's Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency.
Imports of the product into Guernsey were banned at the same time.
