Asian Hornet nest removed in Jersey first to be used for research
A large Asian Hornet nest which has been removed in Jersey this afternoon will be the first on-island nest to be used for research.
It was discovered in a tree on Le Chemin de Hérupe in St Lawrence.
The road was closed this afternoon to allow pest control officers to safely remove it.
It is the seventh nest the team has dealt with and will now be dissected.
There are around 200 queens in every nest. The pest control team says it is important we understand the breeding habits of the invasive insect before the second generation of Asian Hornets arrives.
