Guernsey Airport has unveiled a new plan to try and reverse its financial losses, by boosting passenger numbers by 40,000 per year.

It could include cutting charges that airlines pass onto travellers and a discount for operators running routes to new destinations.

It would mean a total of 855,000 people travelling through the airport each year. The aim is to reach that target by the end of 2019.

The plan also sets further targets of 900,000 passengers per year by 2022, which the airport believes would be enough to allow it to break even financially.

Other options for increasing traveller numbers include extending airport opening hours and looking at new technology to help prevent cancellations in bad weather.

The plan also aims to increase it's 'non-aeronautical' revenues by £3.8m by the end of 2019.

'Non-aeronautical' services includes car parking, freight services, private hangar operations, third-party tenancies and leases, retail and accommodation.
