Both Manches Iles ferries broken down

Inter-island ferry services are under pressure as two Maches Iles boats have broken down.

The Victor Hugo and the Granville are out of action meaning hundreds of passengers have had their ferry journeys cancelled.

The French firm say they will refund all passengers and hope to have at least one boat up and running by the end of the week but can make no guarantee.

They were chosen to run the inter-island ferry service earlier this year.

The Victor Hugo broke down in Sark only recently whilst ferrying passengers to and from the island's Summer Festival.

The ferries run between the following destinations, all of which will not be running this week:

• Jersey - Guernsey

• Jersey - Sark

• Jersey - Granville

• Jersey- Carteret

• Jersey - Diélette

• Guernsey - Diélette

• Diélette - Alderney
