Guernsey's Ormer Ladies to face Jersey sides in new CI League

Guernsey's Ormer Ladies will play against Jersey sides next season in a new Channel Island football competition.

It is the first time that a women's team from Guernsey will have competed in a league with clubs from Jersey.

Ormer will travel across to play each of Jersey's four teams once at Springfield.

The Jersey Premiership will see those four - Wanderers, St Lawrence, Grouville, and new club Rozel - playing each other three times over the course of the season to crown a local champion.

But one of those matches will also count towards the new Women's CI League, together with the games played against Ormer.

Ormer entered Jersey's knockout competition, the Colin Welsh Trophy, for the first time last year, but they have not competed against Caesarean opposition in a league format before.

Administrators in Jersey hope the move will strengthen the women's game in Guernsey, with a view to bringing about the return of the Muratti and Upton.
