Same sex couple petition for changes to Bailiwick birth certificates
A couple in Alderney are petitioning for changes to birth certificates in the Bailiwick.
Rachel O'Toole and partner, Cat, have a baby due in November.
They want to register their child with 'Mother and Mother' on the birth certificate.
But currently the forms require a 'mother' and 'father' signature, which means only one of them can put their name on the document.
A States of Guernsey spokesperson told ITV News they are looking into the issues and putting together a plan to make changes to the relevant law.
