Jerseyman seeks justice over planning application for his St Mary farmhouse
A Jerseyman's seeking justice today as a public hearing reviews the way his planning application for his farmhouse in St Mary was handled.
Ivor Barette was fined £50,000 in 2016, after making changes to the historic building without planning permission.
After receiving approval to build a replacement extension to his property, Mr Barette removed floorboards and windows from the main building, which is listed for its historic importance.
After being issued with an enforcement notice and failing to put things back to how they were, he was taken to court where he pleaded guilty and was handed down the fine - believed to be one of the largest ever issued in the island.
