Jersey's Chief Minister designate names his preferred ministers

Jersey's Chief Minister designate has named his 10 ministerial nominations.

Senator John Le Fondre would like the following people to make up his Council of Ministers:

  • Minister for External Relations: Senator Ian Gorst

  • Minister for Treasury and Resources: Deputy Susie Pinel

  • Minister for Education: Senator Tracey Vallois

  • Minister for Health and Social Services: Senator Sarah Ferguson

  • Minister for Social Security: Deputy Judy Martin

  • Minister for Infrastructure: Deputy Kevin Lewis

  • Minister for Economic Development: Senator Lyndon Farnham

  • Minister for Environment: Deputy John Young

  • Minister for Housing: Senator Sam Mézec

  • Minister for Home Affairs: The Connétable of St Clement Len Norman

Senator Le Fondre wants to appoint Senator Tracey Vallois as his Deputy Chief Minister and plans to create the following roles in future:

  • Minister for Internal Relations: Deputy Carolyn Labey

  • Minister for Children: Senator Sam Mezec

The Chief Minister designate will appoint the Connétable of St. John Chris Taylor and the Connétable of St. Ouen Richard Buchanan as Assistant Chief Ministers.

He will also review the roles of political responsibilities and assess any changes to the structure of the civil service.

Tomorrow States Members will vote on the nominations, while other members are able to can put themselves forward for the positions.

Reform Jersey have already said they are likely to contest some Ministerial roles.

Senator Le Fondre will be able to reshuffle the list of candidates if his preferred candidate doesn't get the role he wanted.
