Jersey beat Guernsey 1-0 to win back Muratti
Jersey have regained the Muratti Vase after beating Guernsey 1-0 in a game of few chances at Springfield.
Chris Tardif started in goal for the Sarnians to become the first player-manager in the fixture's history.
His foul on Calvin Weir led to the only goal of the game as Jack Cannon stepped up to score from the spot in front of the Guernsey supporters.
It was just reward for Martin Cassidy's men who had started brightly and took that deserved lead in at the break.
But the visitors improved after it, Tardif's team pushing Jersey back for long periods as they chased the equaliser.
They struggled to create the opening they needed though, despite the introduction of Muratti veteran Dom Heaume and debutant Will Fazakerley to bolster their attack.
Jersey's Jay Reid sparked a lively last few minutes after receiving a straight red card for a wild kick at Charlton Gauvain.
But the ten men of Jersey saw the match out to lift the Vase and make it back-to-back home Muratti wins for the first time in a decade.
