Leinster break Reds hearts to reach B&I final

Leinster ‘A’ staged an astonishing comeback to beat Jersey Reds 29-27 at Stade Santander International and book their place in the final of the British & Irish Cup.

Jersey led 27-8 going into the closing stages but the Irish side scored three tries in the last 10 minutes to leave the home players and supporters stunned.

After a very tight opening, the Reds struck twice through Tom Pincus and Kieran Hardy to go in at the break 14-3 to the good.

Brendan Cope kicked two penalties in the second-half before Jason Worrall crossed to all but seal a second successive final for Jersey.

But Leinster ‘A’ broke through the home defence twice to cut the deficit to five points, before Will Connors touched down to set up Ciaran Frawley to win it with the last kick of the game.

Leinster ‘A’ will now face Ealing Trailfinders in next month’s final after they beat Bedford Blues 36-16 in Saturday’s other semi-final.
