Politicians need to do more to increase footfall in St Peter Port
Guernsey shop owners and politicians need to do more to ensure the future of the island's retail industry, according to the head of the Town Centre Partnership.
The group works to promote and increase footfall in St Peter Port.
Politicians on the Economic Development committee have backed calls for retailers to set up a 'Retail Association' to improve coordination and communication within the industry.
The Executive Officer of the Town Centre Partnership, Jack Honeybill, says that lack of coordination is a long-standing problem.
It comes after a retail survey found that 96% of Guernsey shoppers have gone online in the past year.
The survey also revealed that the majority of Guernsey residents feel that both St Peter Port and The Bridge shopping areas need more and better quality shops.
