Jersey must "listen to children"
WATCH: ITV News speaks to former Director of Children's Services in Leeds about his recommendations...
Children, families and people working in child protection met today to help shape the future of Jersey's Children's Services.
Hundreds came together to put forward ideas for 'The Children's Plan'.
The plan is a recommendation of the Independent Jersey Care Inquiry.
The focus will be on children's health, learning, safety and in making sure young people's voices are heard.
Nigel Richardson, the former Director of Children's Services in Leeds City Council was one of the experts to visit the island.
In July 2009, Ofsted inspectors found Leeds did not adequately safeguard children.
Mr Richardson took over Leeds' Children's Services in 2009 and helped improve the services to 'good' as rated by Ofsted in 2015.
He told ITV News today that it was crucial Jersey listened to its children.
