Drones used to detect plastic in Guernsey
The Plastic Tide project will visit Guernsey today to demonstrate how drones can be used to detect plastic build-up.
Islanders are being encouraged to attend the event at the Guille-Allès library which will explain how they can contribute to the project.
The island's Biodiversity officer will join the public to tag plastic in images, which will train a computer programme to detect, measure and monitor plastics.
The target is to tag 250,000 images before 19th March.
Members of Plastic Free Guernsey will also be on hand to show examples of plastic pollution which has been washed up on the island's shores.
