Guernsey's harbourmaster will act as independent official to uncover why there was a breakdown in relations between the RNLI and the former crew in St Helier.

Relations broke down after the former Coxswain was sacked and later re-instated but tensions continued and led to the temporary closure of the St Helier lifeboat station.

It is hoped the report will be released ahead of a debate on a proposed independent lifeboat service in March.

The States say the report will help inform Assembly members of the background into the events and what recommendations can be made for search and rescue around the island in the future.
