A free app, which allows people to share unused food, is set to help stop food being wasted in Jersey this Christmas.

Olio was launched in the island in June and now has more than 5,000 users.

All food can be put onto the app, including items nearing their sell by date or home grown produce. People can then see where to collect it from.

It is hoped the app will be able to make a difference to combat the excess amount of food islanders buy during the festive season.
