People in Jersey are being asked not to recycle their wrapping paper this Christmas.

The Department for Infrastructure says the gift wrap contains materials such as glitter and plastic, or is made from paper that has been dyed or laminated, which cannot be recycled.

Islanders are asked to throw the paper out with their household waste instead.

Greetings cards can be recycled if they are not musical, but the Infrastructure Department says people should tear off any embellishments such as ribbons.
