Standby staff will travel to Jersey to run the all-weather lifeboat in St Helier ahead of the adverse weather expected.

The RNLI say they have found qualified staff to crew the George Sullivan over the next few weeks. They say the island's inshore lifeboats would be unable to ensure an all-weather response, especially in high winds.

The charity say that the staff crew will work with the new volunteers until they can operate the all-weather lifeboat to the RNLI's standards of safety.
