States of Guernsey Reshuffle
The States of Guernsey have been voting today for new members after several resignations.
Deputy Charles Parkinson has been elected as the new President of the Committee for Economic Development.
It follows the resignation of Deputy Peter Ferbrache who quit after concerns were raised by the Policy & Resources committee over work commissioned by an independent States body with the law firm that he works at, as a consultant.
Deputy Parkinson was elected by 20 votes to 19. There was one spoilt paper.
Meanwhile, Deputy John Gollop has been elected as a Member of the Committee for Education, Sport & Culture.
This election follows the recent resignation of Vice-President Carl Meerveld. Deputy Meerveld quit following a PR scandal.
Deputy Jan Kuttelwascher has resigned from the role of Vice President after losing out to Deputy Charles Parkinson by one vote in the fight to become President of the Committee for Economic Development.
