Ports of Jersey has announced plans to merge the arrivals and departures terminal at Jersey Airport by adding new floors and transforming the existing departures lounge.

The major works, which are subject to planning approval, would see a 2,300 square foot mezzanine floor extension built to create a new security area.

Access to the extension from the ground floor check-in will be via lifts, escalators and stairs to an atrium.

An air side departures lounge would be created with seating overlooking the aircraft stands.

The existing arrivals terminal will be removed to comply with current safety standards after work is completed, but the ground floor baggage reclaim area will remain open until the new area is in use.

There is an overall budget of £42 million for the project, which will be funded by Ports of Jersey revenues.
