Jersey announce 29 athletes for 2018 Commonwealth Games
The Commonwealth Games Association Jersey has announced 29 athletes selected for next year’s Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast.
Four spaces remain from Jersey’s allocation of 33 team members, with a decision on those set to be made in late December.
The first 29 are spread across six sports for the Games, which take place from 4-15 April 2018.
400m runner Sam Dawkins will be the island’s first track athlete since 1986, while Kim Ashton and Helen Ralston are the first female cyclists to earn selection in nearly 20 years.
Jersey have won 4 Commonwealth medals in their history, with the last two coming in shooting at Auckland 1990.

Athletics (2): Sam Dawkins, Zane Duquemin.
Badminton (4): Alex Hutchings, Elise Dixon, Emily Tremple-Redshaw, Matthew Bignall.
Cycling (6): Kim Ashton, Dan Halksworth, Rhys Hidrio, Helen Ralston, Jack Rebours, Ollie Lowthorpe.
Gymnastics (3): Daniel Lee, Bonita Shurmer, Rachelle Flambard.
Lawn Bowls (8): Chrissie Grimes, Joan Renouf, Rachel MacDonald, Doreen Moon, Eileen Vowden, Ross Davis, Malcolm de Sousa, Derek Boswell.
Shooting (6): Barry Le Cheminant, David le Quesne, Andrew Chapman, Cameron Pirouet, Sarah Campion, Nikki Holmes.
